Poll Everywhere

​

Allows teachers to check for understanding on the go.  Surveys can be embedded into PowerPoint presentations and students can respond by text, Twitter or online.  Responses are shown in real time bar graphs

Piktochart

​

Have students create inforgraphics of the material that they are currently studying.

Includes many free, easy to use templates.  Final product can be shared online or made into a presentation

Screencast-O-Matic

​

An easy to use and free web based screencast program. In a couple of clicks, students or teachers can be making their own videos that can then be published to YouTube or shared privately.  Can be simply a voiceover screencast or can also be a picture in picture screencast with the presenter visible.

Kahoot

​

An interactive gaming platform where students answer questions on their devices.  Questions and responses are displayed on a singular screen.  Works well in a classroom setting to check for understanding.

Aurasma

​

An augmented reality app that allows common, everyday objects (targets) to launch multimedia (auras).  Can be used to make interactive posters, scavenger hunts, explain how to use equipment.

Plickers

​

A web based quizzing program.  Questions are created by the instructor and placed in the program.  Each student is given a unique card which is rotated to display the correct response. The instructor then uses the camera on a smartphone to register and score the responses from the students.

4D Elements

​

This app allows students to see what elements look like and how they will react with one another.  Students create cubes from printouts, download the app on their devices and point the cameras at the cubes.  Through augmented reality, the cubes come 'alive'. Students can then experiment by making compounds.  Lessons provided to go along with the cubes

Thinglink

​

A Web 2.0 tool which annotates images or videos.  This program allows you to place buttons on a picture which than can be linked to other sources of media.  Great for creating interactive posters 

Google Apps for Education (GAFE)

​

Google Apps is a suite of tools ( Google docs, slides, drive, calendar, map, sheets and email) that are all accessible with one Google account. Students can create, collaborate, share, store information and submit work all in one spot.

Twitter

​

A great app that can be used for classroom discussions, microblogging, homework assignment and parent communication.
