21st Century Skills

The world we live in is changing at an alarming rate.  Technology is all around us and it is altering the way we live and learn.  Students who are entering the workplace today are facing different challenges and therefore, need a changing set of skills so as be competitive in the Global Economy.

Part of the new B.C. Education Plan is to embed 21st Century skills into the curriculum.  21st Century Skills are abilities and a way of thinking that have been assessed for assuring success in the current workplace.  With the new curriculum, students will be exposed to the Four C's of 21st Century Skills: critical thinking, communicating,collaborating and creating.

“More than just working with computers, it’s a way of teaching critical thinking and logic skills crucial for success in tech careers and in almost every other field,” Education Minister Mike Bernier 

“Students will still learn the basics – reading, writing and math – but in a way that connects them to collaboration, communication and critical-thinking skills. These are the skills universities, colleges and employers tell us they are looking for.” Education Minister Mike Bernier
